Top
acts, including Lenny Bruce, brought the house down with edgy
comedy; big bands played; and night club singers would
put on supper shows that marked the period. The Casablanca even had a
mechanical stage that was raised and lowered into
the garage between acts.
If you care to
venture into the lower
parking lot you will see that the floor is made of terrazzo. Close your
eyes and
imagine a bar, barber shop and a few fancy stores of the day. Today with
the need for parking, the Casablanca utilizes
the entire lower level as a parking garage.
Fast forward 50
years later and our guests now have plenty
of room to surf the web in
the beautifully restored Hotel Lobby, under 50 foot high ceilings...
unimaginable back when the Hotel first opened.
The 2009/2010
Hotel renovation did not
stop with the Lobby and Reception areas. All the
common areas and hallways in the Hotel were updated, as was the
Casablanca pool, one of the largest heated pools on
Miami Beach...but the Hotel's greatest attraction required no renovation
or updating; the Hotel's back yard...the beach
and the Atlantic Ocean...still beautiful; still the number one reason
why millions have been coming to Miami Beach for
years.
